Dr. Tom Scales

Dr. Tom Scales received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He did his residency training at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He is the founder, owner, and medical director of the Scales Nutrition and Wellness Center, an outpatient multidisciplinary clinic that specializes in the assessment and management of patients with eating disorders. He was also a talk show host for a web-based radio show entitled “Understanding Eating Disorders”. He is board certified in both internal medicine and psychiatry. He also has additional certification in treating patients with opioid dependence and is a Suboxone provider.

Corey Emerick

Corey is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling and currently working on a PhD in Clinical Counseling. She provides individual, group and family therapy to clients, as well as, any necessary communication with current or previous outpatient providers.  She uses an integrative and individualized approach aimed at improving the quality of life of her clients by helping them find balance, learn coping skills, rediscover choice, decrease suffering, develop positive relationships with their bodies, increase self-esteem and create a life worth living.  Corey specializes in Eating Disorder treatment, is intensively trained in Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trained in Rapid Trauma Resolution/Rapid Resolution Therapy (RTR/RRT).  She is a strong believer that the therapist-client relationship is the most important factor in the healing process and that healing happens with more efficiency and longevity when loved ones are involved. Corey spent 11 years in Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese, speaks advanced Spanish and basic conversational French.

Lara Jackson

Earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to joining Scales Nutrition and Wellness, Lara practiced individual and group counseling at Insight Human Services and Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and at Tapestry Counseling Group in Franklin, Tennessee.

Lara enjoys working with adolescents, young adults and adults. She focuses on helping clients work through anxiety, depression, chemical dependency and eating disorders. Lara uses a wholistic approach where she works with clients on many levels: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. She incorporates wellness and mindfulness into most aspects of the therapy session.

Mary Ann Green

Mary Ann Green is a professional counselor and registered dietitian. A native of Indianapolis, IN, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH where she studied dietetics, and then went on to complete her dietetic internship at the Medical University of South Carolina. Her passion to address the emotional and spiritual roots contributing to health problems led her to earn a Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, GA. She specializes in treating eating disorders in all of their complexity by attending to the body, mind and spirit. She has also treated depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relational problems and a variety of nutrition-related health conditions in both adults and adolescents. Mary Ann has worked in inpatient, outpatient and residential settings in the Atlanta area and is excited to join the team at Scales Nutrition and Wellness.

Maria Andruschenko, MA

Maria earned a Master’s in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. She believes healthy attachment to self and others is essential for making good choices and living a full life. Maria helps her clients reprocess past traumatic experiences so they are able to live more authentically in the here and now. Additionally, she teaches relational skills and guides clients to reframe negative core beliefs until they reflect their true personhood as worthy, loved, and perfect enough. Maria is an eclectic and holistic therapist using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Theory, and Experiential Therapy to lead clients to the best version of themselves.
