At Scales Nutrition and Wellness Center (SNWC) we believe it is necessary for eating disorder, self-harm, substance abuse or other life-threatening behaviors to decrease for life to become manageable. However, symptom reduction alone is not enough to create long-lasting recovery.

Our gender-specific programs offer a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can gain insight and address the underlying wounds that drive harmful behaviors. We know that letting go of old patterns of behavior creates distress, and we strive to give our clients the guidance and support to move through this unavoidable discomfort as they heal.

Individualized Treatment
At SNWC we know that each client is unique and responds differently to varying therapies. The clinical team and the client collaboratively create a plan of care tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of the individual, by using one or more of the following modalities:

  • Mindfulness
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure Therapy and Response Prevention (ET/RP)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Attachment and Psychodynamic Based Therapies
  • Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT)
  • Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)
  • Experiential Therapies
  • Mind-Body Therapies
Eating disorders are often accompanied by other challenges that we treat, including but not limited to the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Social Phobia
  • Depression
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Avoidant Personality Disorder
  • Dependent Personality Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder

An eating disorder impacts more than the individual, it affects their family and friends, who are often just as fearful or frustrated as our clients. We believe eating disorder recovery is strongest when the people who care about the client are involved in the healing process. We teach our clients effective communication skills and how to set boundaries, in addition to working with them to repair damaged relationships and create healthy ones.
